The job at a glance
Precision tool mechanics specialising in cutting tools use grinding machines to produce and maintain cutting tools.
During the apprenticeship you will learn the following aspects:
- Planning and preparation of working processes as well as checking and evaluating the finished results
- Reading, using and creating technical documentation
- Testing, measuring, gauging
- Machine processing
- Maintenance
- Differentiation, classification and handling of materials and supplies
- Processing of parts by way of machining on tool-making machinery, by free-form grinding and polishing
- Detection and limitation of errors and malfunctions
- Maintenance of cutting tools
The apprenticeship at a glance
The course to become a precision tool mechanic specialising in cutting tools is a three and a half year generally-recognised trade apprenticeship.
For the apprenticeship you should have the following interests, characteristics and knowledge:
